We will be creating our “Wall of Families” again this year. Please send in a family photo if you have one (or bring it with you on Open House Night). If you don’t have one you can share with us—no worries. Our staff photographer, Mr. Melen, will meet you by the gym entrance to take your family’s photo. (If Mr. Melen took your picture at the August Open House, you’re all set!) J

What You Will Find In. . .
The Art Room: During our Taiko Drumming Residency, artists worked with a Japanese theme. Check out the Hokusai-inspired prints in the hallways by grades three through five. Second graders created their own interpretations of his famous print, The Great Wave off Kanagawa. These are displayed in the hallway, as are first grade kimonos and Kindergarten fish. A few lingering “dot day” images are still up, as well as some art work inspired by potatoes. (Yes, potatoes.) In the art room, student portfolios are available to view, although we haven’t made any new additions yet this year, as we’ve been busy with Japanese art!

The Gymnasium: Mr. Hamlin will be in the gymnasium where willing students and guests can test their throwing skills and accuracy with “Milk Crate Corn Hole”. This will be a challenge by choice activity that allows everyone to find success at the challenge level that is right for them. Participants that are particularly proud of their score can record it for everyone else to see!

The Music Room: Stop by the music room during open house! There will be percussion instruments out for children to play in their own band. On our Smartboard there will be the Broader minded website to explore the benefits of music education for all of our students. I look forward to meeting with families new and established!

The Library/Media Center: Browse through many of our new books. Learn about the Red Clover Book Award and the Dorothy Canfield Fisher Book Award and this year's Dorothy's List. You can observe some of the new technologies we will use, and view a slide show of students at work. Learn about Read to Give, Scholastic Book Flix, Pebblego, Epic, and the upcoming Scholastic Book Fair in November. Please come and take time to read with your students in our new chair that was purchased from the PTO for your children to enjoy Give, Scholastic Book Flix, and the upcoming Scholastic Book Fair in November. Come view a slide show from Dot Day!
